Your paper is due on your website, by 4:45pm on Tuesday, April 24. You must also print out a copy of your paper and turn this printed version in at the beginning of class on this day.
Your paper must be around 2000 words, which is about five typewritten pages. You must have a minimum of six sources for your paper, and it must be organized concisely and logically. You must also document your citations with either footnotes or APA citation styles.
Your paper is worth 150 points. The point breakdown for the paper is as follows:
Content - 100 points
Formatting - 25 points
Executive Summary - 25 points
What should the paper be about? Well, some topic in the computer field. Rather than list topics, choose something in the technology field that interests you. If you are really stuck, ask me for suggestions. You must submit your topic to me via email no later than 4:45pm on Thursday, February 1. I will respond back to you with approval and or suggestions for the paper. When you send the email, please use the subject line of MIS 353 - RESEARCH PAPER TOPIC so that I can flag it and read it. If, during your research, you decide to change your paper topic, you must consult with me first. Anyone changing their paper topic without prior approval will not have the paper graded.
HINT: You can write your paper in Microsoft Word, and then use the "save as html" option in Word to save it as an HTML file. Then you can FTP that file from your PC to Flamingo. We will practice FTPing during class exercises.
NAMING CONVENTIONS: Your paper should be called lastname.html, where the word "lastname" is your last name. It should have the extension of HTML and should be located in a subdirectory called paper, under your public_html directory. If I can't find your paper, I can't grade it!
The following papers and topics have been submitted to me:

(1) What is an executive summary? It is a one page document that will outline your paper, giving me the major headings, and a few paragraphs describing your preliminary research. I would also want to see some of your sources that you have identified at this time. This will count toward your midterm grade.
